Welcome to personalised natural healthcare. Your journey to improved health starts here!

Whether you need a tonic for that troublesome cough, want to learn how to better manage your health, regain vitality or heal a digestive issue… call today for a chat to find out if I’m the right practitioner for you.

I use an integrative natural medicine approach, combining naturopathic, herbal, nutritional, lifestyle and mind-body medicine to create healing from the inside out. I work alongside you to creating deep and lasting change in your life.

You are not your ‘dis-ease’. You are a unique individual with your own unique body and mind, with your own place in the world, with your own path to follow. Your story, your desires, your personality have more meaning to the natural medicine practitioner than the ‘dis-ease’ label you carry.

Donna Burgoyne  BNatMed NZRGON MNZAMH

I’m Donna, a qualified Medical Herbalist and Naturopath, PSYCH-K Health and Wellness Facilitator and a Registered Nurse.

Professional Member of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists.

I’ve always had an interest in the human condition, a passion for caring, and a desire to alleviate discomfort, pain and facilitate healing. I specialise in mind-body medicine and integrative natural health for the whole family. With decades of experience in healthcare, qualifications to keep you safe, and a deep passion for natural medicine I incorporate these skills and knowledge to mentor you towards increased health and wellbeing.

I graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1986, gaining experience in a wide variety of hospital and community settings in the ensuing years. A passion for natural therapies and complimentary medicine was never far from my holistic view of health, and witnessing the limitations of the mainstream health system, I knew holism was not always integrated into that paradigm. This led me on a quest to search for the missing link, and after personally experiencing the powerful results of natural medicine, there was no turning back. I embarked on further education in natural medicine and mind-body medicine. I hold the following qualifications:

  • Registered General and Obstetric Nurse (Auckland District Health Board)
  • Bachelor of Natural Medicine with Distinction (South Pacific College of Natural Medicine)
  • PSYCH-K Health and Wellness Facilitator
  • Reiki II Practitioner
  • Practitioner in ‘The Journey’ method (Brandon Bays)

After graduating from South Pacific College of Natural Medicine (SPCNM), I went on to work at SPCNM – as a Graduate Practitioner in Paua Clinic (student clinic); as a part-time lecturer in the Bachelor of Natural Medicine programme, and as a Clinic Supervisor to students in their final year. I have continued to maintain a part time nursing career.

In my spare time I enjoy immersing myself into our beautiful natural outdoor environment, sailing and hiking. I am a passionate organic gardener, with a vibrant vegetable garden, and a herbal garden with a focus on native medicinal plants.

There’s a gap in our mainstream healthcare system – holistic natural medicine. Meanwhile there is an increasing ground-roots interest in and demand for ‘wholeness’ healthcare approaches that truly nourish and rebalance health and vitality, without causing harm. Natural, integrative medicine aims to identify and effectively correct body-mind imbalances. It works alongside lifesaving conventional treatments if that’s what’s needed, but aims also to prevent or minimise the need for it in the first place.

Together we go to the heart of the matter, and explore what led you to this place. At your initial consultation a comprehensive health assessment allows us to look at the mind and body down to cellular and energetic levels to determine what’s at the heart of the issue. You’ll do most of the talking. The assessment process is dynamic and ongoing, and as comprehensive as it needs to be, depending on your health goals.

Your body has the most powerful ability to heal itself, some mechanisms of which are known, but much remains a mystery – spontaneous healing is proof of that! I believe and trust that your mind-body knows how to heal, as long as we give it what it needs. We identify the blocks that prevent the normal healing process, and we nourish your mind-body with the best healing environment we can to  ‘nudge’ your healing in a positive direction.

Time to look within, find where, how and why dysfunction is occurring. Restore harmony and balance – energetically, in the cells, tissues, organs, body systems. We aim to restore optimal functioning so body systems work together to heal at a deeper level. With your input, I formulate a health plan that looks to nature for inspiration – an appropriate combination of lifestyle, nutritional medicine, herbal medicine, PSYCH-K® and/or other mind-body techniques. Sometimes you’ll need conventional medicine or other treatment modalities –  we can support alongside those to enhance the effectiveness those treatments. If referral to another healthcare provider is required, I won’t hesitate to recommend this.

Whilst you’re doing this work to heal, there’s an opportunity to practice preventative medicine. Natural medicine inherently nurtures your whole being to strengthen, tonify and enhance optimal functioning – so that you come out the other side even stronger and healthier. This is not necessarily something ‘extra’ you have to do – improved resilience is an inherent, amazing side effect of natural medicine! Increasing your resilience is really beneficial when you are undergoing conventional treatment too.

You might not know it yet, but you are already your own healer!  You will learn more about yourself and your health through this process and increase in self-care confidence.  I will guide and encourage you, be a mentor and facilitator, working in partnership with you. I want you to understand what is happening in your mind-body, and allow you to make informed choices about your health and wellbeing. After all is said and done (and throughout the process) I want to help you to help yourself, by imparting my knowledge in practical ways that empower you.
The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore, the physician must start from nature with an open mind.
